The Gold Coast council planning committee revealed on Tuesday that development had been approved for the largest apartment complex in Surfer’s Paradise on the famous tourist strip of Queensland’s Gold Coast.
The 700 million Australian dollar (639 million U.S. dollar) development will cover nearly 11,500 square meters of land.
The Planning committee chair, Ted Shepherd, said the development would deliver a major economic boost and add significantly to the skyline of the tourist strip.
”It will be close to the light rail and a short walk to the beach, the Nerang River and the main shops and entertainment precinct,” he said.
The City Plan Partners (CPP) project will include 715 apartments, 419 in the 55-storey tower and 296 in the 40-storey tower.
CPP, headed by Carl Lee, is expecting to launch the project early next year.
”The project will provide hundreds of much-needed jobs for the Gold Coast’s lifeblood construction industry, with further employment created through contractors and consultants over the next few years,” Lee said in a statement.
CPP has built major high-rise developments worth more than 2 billion Australian dollars (1.83 billion U.S. dollars) in Korea over the past 10 years. Editor: Chris
