Marina Bay Sands, through its retail arm Sands Retail Asia, has announced that Singapore-based retail group, F J Benjamin, will expand its portfolio with three new outlets in Marina Bay Sands Shoppes. The retail giant has confirmed that it will bring US brand GUESS, international lingerie firm La Senza, and the company’s own fast-growing fashion label, RAOUL, to the new mall when it opens early next year.

Long-haul budget airline AirAsia X has been denied permission to fly to Sydney and Seoul due to a row between the Malaysian government and its sister carrier AirAsia, a news report said.
The refusal has forced AirAsia X to scramble to make new plans to utilise the three new Airbus A330 aircraft due for delivery this year, the Star daily said today.
“We had asked for rights to fly to Sydney and Seoul, and the government decided to defer granting us the approval,” AirAsia X’s chief executive (more…)

Kuwait is seeking partners to develop three transportation system projects worth up to KWD1.5 billion (US$5.3 billion), Gulf News has reported. The projects involve developing the country’s first railway and monorail systems. The government is expected to review studies by international consultants for the three projects by the first half of 2010, the report added.

Qantas has celebrated a 50-year jet age anniversary with cup cakes at Sydney airport and a reminder that international air fares once cost over two years’ salary.
Passengers were served 1950s-style iced cakes before boarding QF73 to San Francisco, half a century to the day after Qantas operated the world’s first jet passenger service across the Pacific, via Nadi and Honolulu.

Italian officials say a Swedish couple looking for the pristine waters of the popular island of Capri ended up about 660 kilometres away in the northern industrial town of Carpi after misspelling the destination on their car’s GPS.
Angelo Giovannini, a spokesman for the Carpi town hall, near Modena, said on Tuesday the couple drove into the main square last week and asked the local tourist office how to reach Capri’s famed Blue Grotto sea cave.
