The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) is going to organize China Road Show in various Chinese cities with the aim of promoting Nepal Tourism Year 2011, The Kathmandu Post reported on Friday.
    According to the daily, the road show is scheduled to be held in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong on Aug. 29-Sept. 5.

Plans to build mainland China’s first Disneyland theme park in Shanghai have yet to be given the go ahead by the central government, ChannelNewsAsia reported state media as saying yesterday. Walt Disney Co and the Shanghai’s government have agreed on major issues in building the park, the official Shanghai Securities News reported, while the US firm said in January it would be submitting a joint application to Beijing. However it had still not been given final approval, the report stated.

A pair of white lions has arrived at Shanghai Wild Animal Park from Guangzhou. The Shanghai Daily reported that the three year-old male called Shan Shan and the female, Si Si, are expected to breed at the park. The white lion is a rare colour mutation of the African lion, which matures about the age of three and can live for 20 to 25 years.

A group of Chinese investors is planning to build an extravagant tribute to Michael Jackson. According to a BBC report, developers will construct a replica of the late entertainer’s Neverland ranch. The US$14.6 million project on Chongming Island, near Shanghai, will copy Neverland’s design, but with “Chinese characteristics”, offering “an alternative pilgrimage spot” for the pop king’s fans.

The first flight of newly-established Tianjin Airlines took ff Wednesday morning, marking the start of 20 daily flights.
    The plane, an E190, departed at 8:10 a.m. for Guiyang of southwestern Guizhou Province en route to Xi’an in Shaanxi.
    Stewardesses in red Qipaos, traditional Chinese dress, served passengers special Tianjin snacks, including fried dough twists and stuffed-steamed buns to mark the occasion.

Foreign countries and regions need to relax visa regulations for mainland tourists if they want to use the burst of potential outbound travelers from the mainland to their advantage, said a tourism book released Wednesday.

Shanghai’s Metro operator has announced that air-conditioning systems in all Metro stations will be switched on in about 10 days’ time. While the city’s Metro trains have automatic air-conditioning, the Shanghai Daily reported that there have been many complaints about the temperature at some busy stations, such as People’s Square and Shanghai Railway Station.

Substantial progress has been made in the negotiations on the expansion plans of the Hong Kong Disneyland between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ( HKSAR) government and the Walt Disney Company, according to local media on Sunday.
